the lipstick tag

So I wasn't actually tagged in this by a fellow blogger but a few people saw it floating around and asked me to do it so I decided to give it a shot. I LOVE lipstick so this should be fun.

1. How many lipsticks do you own?

I actually just spent a solid amount of time finding every one of my lipsticks and counting them up, not including the chubby stick pencils and I have 42. This is only after I cleaned out a lot of my makeup last week and gave away or threw out anything that was too old or that I never wore and cut my lipstick stash almost in half.

2. What was the first lipstick you owned?

I actually never wore lipstick until I went to university so when I finally bit the bullet and started my mild addiction it was Angel by MAC. I was looking for the perfect pink to throw on for chapter meetings and work so I drove to the nearest MAC counter an hour away to find it. To this day it is still one of my favorites.

3. What is your favourite lipstick brand?

This is hard and a real toss up between Urban Decay and MAC but I will have to go with MAC because of the large selection of colors and the different formulas makes it very easy to find something that you like.

4. What is your most worn lipstick?

Can I cheat and list a few? MAC Ruby Woo, Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Natural in N9, and YSL Rouge Volupte Shine 5 Fushia in Excess. I also love Shame by Urban Decay but I haven't worn that much as it is summer and I'm bringing out the lights and brights.

5. What is your favourite finish?

I love a matte lip as they are always so highly pigmented and have great staying power but I do love more moisturizing finishes that aren't too heavy on the lips like YSL one mentioned above. Not a big fan of ones that are too creamy.

6. What was the last lipstick you bought?

Airy Fairy from Rimmel

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?

right now as my makeup has been boring lately. Burt's Bees mango lip balm and NARS lip gloss in Gold Digger.

8. What is your favourite red lip colour?

MAC's Ruby Woo. It is a blue-toned red that looks great on everyone with a highly pigmented matte finish. It is my favorite red and the first one I will grab. If you have yet to find a red you like try this one and you will feel like you can kick ass and take on the world (or your local bar) by storm. Trust me.

9. How do you store your lipsticks?

I have an acrylic lipstick organizer for the top 12 in my current rotation and then I have little drawers for the rest.

10. Which lipsticks are you currently lusting after?

I'm almost ready for a Back 2 MAC and I'm thinking either Diva or Pink Plaid. I also really want to try one from Burberry but I forget the name of it and I can't find the post it I wrote it down on.

Instead of tagging someone since I don't have any blog friends yet I want to hear what some of your favorite lipsticks are!

Long, Feathery Lashes with Calvin Klein CK One Mascara

My favorite, go-to lash look for every day, light makeup is long, feathery lashes without sacrificing volume. Too much volume through the lengths of the lashes can sometimes be too much when you're going for a fresh, light face. This look gives you the perfect balance.

I've been using Calvin Klein CK One mascara in black. The key is to focus on the base of the lashes. Start with a quick pass of an eyelash curler before applying mascara. Apply a few coats of mascara at the base with the wand on the volumizing setting by pressing the brush at the lash line and moving it back and forth a bit. Give the mascara wand a quick twist while you let these coats dry and then apply a coat from the base to the tip of the lashes with the lengthening setting. By concentrating the mascara on the base you get the look of a fuller lash line without the clumping or thickness through to the tip, leaving your lashes long and light. This mascara lasts all day, doesn't clump, and the design of the brush is perfect for this look.

If you want to go for the colored look this mascara comes in Trip which is a violet color and Electrify which is blue. You can pick up this mascara from Ulta for $18 or it is free with their rewards program as your birthday gift!

Bumble and Bumble Surf Shampoo & Conditioner

My hair dresser gave me a few of these sample sizes of Bumble & Bumble Surf Shampoo and Conditioner so I decided to give it a go since I have heard great things about it! It claims to give you "buoyant body and soft, seabreezy texture" through the use of sea botanicals. I've use the salt spray from this line and wasn't a big fan, especially for the price, but I hoped this would work well with my hair.

The first thing you will notice is the smell- a light, fresh scent that matches the product. It was not overpowering but left my shower with the hint scent of salty surf. After towel drying I applied my salt spray of choice, Toni & Guy casual salt spray, along with a sun protectant for my hair since I would be outside for most of the day. I used it a couple more times including without a salt spray, and with a leave in moisturizer to see how they effected the way my hair looked and felt. I also used it with a diffuser on my blow dryer instead of letting it air dry.

I did not like this product for the cost of an actual full bottle. I found that, despite the claims, it left my hair flat and lifeless even with the use of my usual volumizing styling product. My hair has a natural wave but was left straight and rather frizzy. Unlike their salt spray it was not excessively drying on my hair. If you can pick up sample sizes somewhere I highly suggest trying this product out since it is $24 each for the shampoo and conditioner and I can get better, more voluminous beachy hair with my usual products even without needing to back comb at the root. I'll keep using up my samples but I wont be buying a full bottle once it is used up.

Have you use the Bumble and Bumble surf line? What were your thoughts?

Pimp Your Water

I'm sure you're sick of hearing everyone and their doctor tell you to drink more water. Water is boring and I can only have so many glasses of it before I am begging for something with taste. We all know pop isn't good for you and you would be surprised just how much sugar and chemicals are put into juice. So what is the health conscious but flavor loving person supposed to do to make sure they get the water they need? That's where infused waters come in, or as many people call it "detox water."

I LOVE adding different combinations of fruit, mint, and cucumber into my water. This not only helps give your bland water a refreshing taste, but it loads it full of vitamins and minerals! The health and beauty benefits of infused water include glowing skin, detoxing, aiding in digestion, and helping with digestive inflammation and nausea! Here are some of my favorite additions to my water and their benefits as well as some very tasty combinations.

I love this stuff and drink it every day with different combinations. This is just to get you started there are loads of fruits you can try until you find your favorites!I love making some green tea and then pouring it in a pitcher or glass container and then adding my favorite fruits or ice cubes for an added boost with the health benefits of the green tea! I also have hot water with lemon and mint every morning before breakfast and it's a great start to my day! You can even add it to coconut water!

You can order different types of infusion bottles but I just stick it in a Voss bottle or mason jars and bring them to work, class, or running errands for the day!

Have you been trying infused water? What are some of your favorites?
