What's In My Gym Bag

Aside from feeling sore the next day (or 2) the major downside to going to the gym is having to deal with the after effects of your kick ass workout: hair a mess, sweat dripping from places you can't remember ever sweating from before, and if you're human you probably have a not so appealing smell to you (just admit it). I try to go to the gym early enough that I have time to go home before doing anything else or I do it late at night before bed. If I can't fit either of those things I find myself needing to make myself look presentable and have a socially appropriate smell before going to work, running errands, or even out to lunch with friends. Here are some of my tips to make post workout prep fast and easy! This will even be great for a post gym class pick me up for those who are still in school! I've included some most affordable drug store alternatives when I can!

Burt's Bees Facial Towelettes ($6) are the only facial cleansing pre-moistened towels I use. I have tried most of them out there and found that they make my face itchy. These are my favorites, they work wonderfully, and they even have a formula for sensitive skin. I always give my face a quick rinse with water afterward simply because I feel like my face is cleaner if I do that. Something about just wiping down your face and not rinsing is weird to me. I use this to remove any makeup before my workout. You can use another to remove any sweat or remaining makeup that you missed after your workout but I love to use this Cucumber Cleaning Lotion from Mario Badescu ($15) with a cotton pad. I LOVE this stuff. I use it in my daily routine and rave about it regularly. I put it into a small, travel size container so I am not dragging my big bottle around and refill it as needed. This cleans your skin so well and leaves it feeling refreshed.

I'll hop in the shower at the gym (cheap Old Navy flip-flops come in handy here) and pop my hair in a shower cap. I'll give myself a quick wash down with my favorite body wash (I also put this in a small travel container). When my hair was longer I would put it in a braid or a bun near the top of my head to keep the sweat from getting in my hair from the back of my neck. I would skip the shower cap and just let steam from my shower moisten my hair a little bit to give it a wavy texture. Now that it is short I throw it in a cap. Grab your favorite dry shampoo if you need it and brush through. I use Tigi Catwalk (about $20). I found it helps to not make your ponytaile or ties too tight if you are fine with adjusting your hair a couple of times during your workout. Try getting those no crease ones that are the stretchy ribbon type fabric tied together.

The best part about a workout is that your skin is going to have color and glow! Utilize this and go easy on the makeup. I use NARS tinted moisturizer (around $40) with Rimmel Stay Matte powder (around $5) or if I have no breakouts I will just use Bare Minerals. I will use a little bit of bronzer like Lorac Baked Bronzer ($5-7 for the mini size) or Rimmel Natural Bronzer ($4-6), a brown eyeshadow only a little darker than my skin like MAC paint pot in groundwork ($20) or I use the same bronzer I just put on my face and lightly brush it into my crease, and some mascara like They're Real by Benefit ($23) or if you are like me you throw in the sample mascaras you get from Sephora or Ulta that you like. Sometimes I will throw on some eyeliner if I want the extra touch-to keep things simple and as natural as possible I use a brown eyeliner right on the lash line. Keep your makeup light and natural and let your post workout flush work its magic. I then throw on Burts Bees Mango Nourishing Lip Balm or a tinted lip balm. I'm really liking the lipstick that was included in the birthday gift from Sephora this year and I have been using that a lot, it's Makeup Forever's Rouge Artist Natural in N9 ($20 for the full size).

I toss in a couple of Real Techniques brushes- the retractable kabuki, an eyeshadow brush, and the big powder brush.

Spray with your favorite perfume or body mist. Instead of bringing the whole bottle around you can purchase a roller ball version if available or put some into an atomizer (I believe Sephora has them at a pretty affordable price) and you are on your way!

Beach Babes- Bathing Suits for the fuller figure

As requested I decided to do a bathing suit post! I think half of the fear with wearing bathing suits comes from not being able to find one that is cute and that fits a fuller figure or plus size body without throwing away style. Often times stores don't carry these sizes or if they do they are boring, black, and my mom wouldn't even wear them. It's frustrating and its easy to give up and think there is NOTHING out there for you! Here are just some of my favorite options from a few places to show you the kind of variety that is out there!

These are some of my favorites from Always for Me, a website specializing in plus size bathing suits, active wear, and lingerie for sizes 16W-26W and a juniors plus size collection which is often hard to find! They have a wide variety of styles, colors, and patterns including one and two piece bathing suits! Most of the solids come with multiple color options!

ASOS has a great variety in their curve and plus size collection! In case you aren't familiar with ASOS they have free shipping both ways. I have often purchased the same item in two sizes and returned whichever one didn't fit if I wasn't sure what size I needed. Here are some of my favorites! Most of them are two piece but they do have a few one piece that I included!

Next we have the Torrid swim collection. Torrid carries clothes for sizes 12-28 so it covers a range of fuller and plus size figures with fashionable, fun options. Here are 6 of my favorites and they have loads of options to mix and match!

Next we have Forever 21 + swimwear collection. I'm not sure how the quality is, generally Forever 21 doesn't have the best quality clothing and I find their plus size collection is the same, if not worse but compared to the other options I have found they are more affordable and they are fashionable and fun. Most of their bathing suits comes with the same patterns and colors repeated in different styles so I tried to cover most of the colors/patterns/styles to give you an idea of the whole collection. Many of them have removable straps as well.

Another GREAT website is Swim Suits For All! I love their Swim Sexy collection! It's full of fun prints and bright colors!

I hope this post helped you see that there are loads of fun, flirty, fashionable bathing suits out there for the fuller and plus size figure! If you know of any more places please let me know in the comments and share with all of us! Remember that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and there is no "right" body to have to wear a bathing suit! Find something that makes you feel comfortable and rock it!

Don't forget my giveaway that is going on for a Frank Body Scrub giftcard- the perfect way to get your skin soft and glowing in time to wear one of these awesome bathing suits!

Get Dirty with Frank!

Want soft, glowing, healthy skin? The secret is to get dirty with frank. You might have seen this scrub floating around twitter and instagram and I'm here to tell you that frank is about to become your best friend and shower pal. I wanted to put this product to the test for a couple of months before I reviewed it for you!

Frank is "frank is an all-natural coffee scrub for your body- an exfoliator that targets skin conditions such as cellulite, stretch marks, eczema, acne, and psoriasis." It is made of coffee, different oils, and other natural ingredients. They have two different varieties, original ($14.95) and coconut & grapeseed ($17.95) and they have free, fast shipping if you live in the states! Another plus, frank is completely animal friendly; no testing on our furry friends and vegan!

why coffee? well, it's not just there to wake you up in the morning! Coffee's stimulating properties go as far as to help increase blood flow to the skin and the dried grounds are perfect for exfoliation. Coffee's stimulating affect is great for skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema and even helps with cellulite!

The other main ingredients include almond oil, coconut oil, and grapeseed oil which are all great for your skin, acne, and full of vitamins and antioxidents! Within one use I noticed my skin was soft and glowing and my patch of red dots and irritation that I have on my arms were gone, but after repeated use (once or twice a week) I saw a huge difference in any stretch marks and large scars that I had from sports were fading and barely noticeable! I'm going to say it: I LOVE FRANK! I don't believe in miracles but this might be the closest thing to it! It's been pretty warm here lately and I have had compliments on my skin every time I have gone out.

There is no strong, lingering coffee scent on your skin, it doesn't clog your drains, and with repeated use it really does work! It's great to use before self tanner or getting a spray tan too!

Check our frank online and test it out just in time for summer! I don't think you will be disappointed! I have gone through 2 packs and just got a new package in today!
